METAL THREAD EMBROIDERY ON MEN’S & WOMEN’S GARMENTS c.1450-1650

1-Day Course – Friday 22nd November

Embroidery embellished both men’s and women’s clothing, either worked as a border or covering the whole textile surface. Silks and metal thread were applied singly or in combination to garments and accessories with spectacular effect.

This course looks at the different styles and techniques of embroidery, who worked them, and who wore them.

Students will work samples of stitches using the extant examples from the School’s collection as a guide.
