PINKING, SLASHING & RAZING: DECORATIVE TECHNIQUES ON TEXTILES c.1500-1650

1-Day Course – Sunday 24th November

Techniques with a blade were widely used during the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to decorate both woven textiles and leather.

Each of the methods could be worked individually or in conjunction with others, and were frequently worked alongside embroidery.

Students will make samples of the various techniques. There will be extant examples and reconstructed pieces from the School’s collection for study
