2 Day Course – 30th & 31st July 2016
This course will consider the style of the king’s shirts, the materials and construction methods used, who made them and why they were such popular gifts to the king. Students will look at a range of primary sources and try out a range of techniques used to make and to decorate the shirts, including Italian shirring, worked eyelets and decorative insertion seams. The various shapes of early sixteenth century shirts will be explored and several pattern layouts will be drafted.
