Description
Not having pockets in your skirt or dress is a nuisance we all know only too well. This course will explore the importance of tieon pockets for women of all classes, including pocket hoops. As separate bags, very often worn in pairs, tie-on pockets can contain several internal pockets. Pocket hoops, on the other hand, serve a dual purpose. Original and reconstructed examples from the school’s collections will be available, and students will apply various cutting and construction techniques.
Students will work one half-scale sample of a 18th century tie on pocket and one half-scale pocket hoop.
