STARCHING & SETTING RUFFS c.1585-1625
1-Day Course – Wednesday 20th November 2024
Students will starch and set reconstructed ruffs and bands from our collection into shape. Both surviving and reconstructed examples of ruffs, multi-layered rufflers, laces and embroidery used on ruffs and other fine linens will be available for close examination.
Techniques included in our new enlarged colour edition of Patterns of Fashion 4: the content, cut, construction and context of linen shirts, smocks, neckwear, headwear and accessories for men and women c.1540-1660 will be taught in the class.
