THE CUT & CONSTRUCTION OF FARTHINGALES c.1475-1625
1-Day Course – Sunday 8th December
Using reconstructed farthingales in the classroom this course will introduce students to the materials, cut and construction of farthingales that later developed in to 18th century hoops. These structured petticoats were stiffened with a variety of applied hoops which gave the petticoat or the skirt of a gown a stable support.
Samplers will be worked in modern versions of period appropriate materials.
