FRILLS AND FRINGES: DECORATION ON 18TH-CENTURY WOMEN’S GOWNS SUNDAY 2nd JUNE
1-Day Course – from 10am to 6pm
Throughout the 18th century, many women’s outfits were decorated with trimmings of pleated, pinked, ruffled and flounced textile lengths and knotted fringe of coloured silks in numerous assorted designs.
Students will make samples of various trimming techniques. Extant garments from both the School and the Hopkins collections will be in the classroom to examine.
