Description
THE CUT & CONSTRUCTION OF 16th & 17th CENTURY PETTICOATS & FOREPARTS 25th MAY
1-Day Course
from 10am to 6pm
Using reconstructions of petticoats from our School collection as well as a surviving forepart (adapted to dress a religious statue) this class will explore the ways in which these garments were made for use with a variety of gowns, together with the ways in which these items were made from other re-purposed garments, or re-shaped as the fashion changed. There will also be a c.1600 dressing demonstration during the class.
Foreparts were panels to be worn beneath open gown skirts or petticoats, of which there are two examples shown in Patterns of Fashion 3.
